Struggling STX Corp. wins $60 million deal in Africa

STX Corp., which is part of the cash-strapped STX Group going through financial restructuring, said yesterday it signed a $60 million deal in Africa to develop drinking water and manage a diesel power plant.

According to the company, it will provide drilling units, water purifying equipment and construction services at 1,500 sites in the Democratic Republic of Congo. In Guinea, SXT Corp. will operate and manage a 24-megawatt diesel power plant.

STX Corp. said it also is trying to win an additional $25 million contract to find and develop drinking water in the Democratic Republic of Congo and is closing in on a $10 million deal to provide equipment for a 76-megawatt diesel power plant in Guinea.
