Posco E&C announces new fast-strengthening cementPosco Engineering and Construction (E&C), the construction arm of the nation’s top steelmaker, said yesterday it has developed a concrete that builds strength more quickly than others and applied for a patent.
According to the builder, for normal concrete to have 24 megapascals of strength it requires nearly two weeks, but its new concrete product can reach that strength level in 18 hours. The company said its product will help builders reduce construction time and boost safety.
Posco E&C said it developed the product in cooperation with Dongnam Enterprises, Econex, Hanil Industrial and Hanil Cement.
The builder said it will try to develop a new type of concrete using its PosMent, which produces less carbon emissions than traditionally produced cement, and mix it with its fast-setting concrete.
