Venerable Seonhae moves a wooden tablet of the Tripitaka Koreana from its storage site at Haein Temple for display at the Tripitaka Koreana Festival, happening today through Nov. 10, near the temple. The Tripitaka Koreana, a collection of more than 81,000 wooden tablets of Buddhist writings, was completed in 1251. Even the oldest tablets are well preserved after 750 years. The tablets, the pavilion that houses them and the temple itself were all added to the Unesco World Heritage list in 1995. Eight of the tablets will be on display at the festival, which was organized by the temple and the provincial and county governments. By Song Bong-geun
