Import car sales last month were 12,668 units, up 4.5 percent from a year ago, according to data released yesterday from the Korea Automobile Importers and Distributors Association (Kaida).
The association said September sales were down 9.4 percent from August because of fewer business days due to the Chuseok holiday. However, foreign auto brands compiled sales of 116,085 units, up 21.3 percent from a year earlier.
In September, Volkswagen was the best-selling foreign brand with 2,457 units, followed by Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi. However, the Mercedes-Benz E220 CDI was the best-selling model.
