Kumho Tire, the nation’s second-largest tire manufacturer, will supply original equipment (OE) tires for Mercedes-Benz G-Class, the company said yesterday.
The affiliate of Kumho Asiana Group said its “Solus KL21” tires will be installed on the German automaker’s luxury SUV and will be sold to Germany, Canada, Australia, Japan and the United States. Kumho is the first local tire manufacturer to work with Mercedes-Benz after supplying OE tires to its A-Class models in 2007. It is also supplying OE tires to Volkswagen, BMW, Chrysler and General Motors.
Meanwhile, the company said that it will resume construction of a Georgia plant in the United States and begin operating it by 2016.
