Doosan Heavy Industries to supply boilers, turbines

Doosan Heavy Industries said it will provide boilers and turbines for Shin-Boryeong coal-fired power plant’s two generators after signing an 850 billion won ($801 million) contract with Korea Midland Power Co. (Komipo) yesterday.
The two generators are scheduled to be completed by 2017 in Boryeong, South Chungcheong, and Doosan will supply a boiler and turbine for each generator.
The Shin-Boryeong coal-fired power plant is a 1,000-megawatt plant operated under the ultra super critical (USC) system, which is more energy efficient and produces less carbon emissions.
Doosan said building boilers for a 1,000-megawatt size was limited to only few companies in the world, but since it has secured the technology, it will also explore overseas markets.
Doosan finished localizing core parts for the 1,000-megawatt USC system in 2008. It signed a contract with Komipo in 2010.
