Four advertisers honored
A total of 21 awards were for ads appearing in the past 12 months in the JoongAng Ilbo, JoongAng Sunday and Korea JoongAng Daily.
The seven judges included directors of major agencies, such as Innocean Worldwide and Cheil Worldwide, and academics.
Receiving awards from Korea JoongAng Daily were Grand Prize-winner LG Chem, Doosan Group, KB Financial Group and Incheon Free Economic Zone.
“Chemical companies like us, which mostly deal with fellow corporate clients offering key base materials needed in manufacturing consumer products, lack opportunities to communicate with regular consumers,” said Sung Hwan-doo, public relations team leader of LG Chem. “So we selected a car as the most well-known consumer product manufactured with materials stemming from our technology.”
Doosan Corporation was awarded the Platinum Prize for its straightforward corporate message supporting all young people.
KB Financial Group won the Gold Prize for best visual impact generated by its yellow corporate color and for using four famous athletes and celebrities as models.
Incheon Free Economic Zone received the Best Communication Prize for visual and written messages in English for foreign readers.
Next year will be the golden anniversary of the ceremony.
