Fans excited for Mnet awards

With music devotees gearing up for Friday’s 2013 Mnet Asian Music Awards, or MAMA for short, organizer CJ E&M announced how fan voting has gone so far.
Online polls opened on Oct. 24 for Asian music enthusiasts all over the world. As of Sunday, more than 9 million people from 191 countries have voted. Music fans in China have accounted for nearly half of the voting, with more than 4.5 million ballots cast. Korea was second with 1.3 million votes, and Taiwan third with 650,000.
Each country had slightly different preferences, with Shinhwa leading the voting in China and SHINee topping it in Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, Brazil and Canada. Exo so far is No. 1 in Russia, France, Australia, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia.
The event, which will be presented on Friday in Hong Kong, will be streamed live in 94 countries. In addition to performances by Big Bang and other top Korean and Asian acts, special guests this year will include Stevie Wonder, Icona Pop and Ylvis.
