Hyundai Mobis says production under way for ASB system

Hyundai Mobis, the nation’s top car module maker under Hyundai Motor Group, said that it has started mass production of advanced active seat belts (ASBs) that are equipped with electronic control units - the first local company to do so.
ASBs work by automatically tightening and strapping passengers to their seats if sensors detect instant deceleration, steep steering or other signs of an imminent crash. According to the company, ASBs can reduce neck injuries by 64 percent.
Hyundai Mobis said its ASB system is already in the new Genesis and will eventually be applied to all of its models.
