Ex-San Francisco Giant signs with Kia Tigers

The Kia Tigers have signed a $300,000 deal with infielder Brett Pill, the team said yesterday through a press release. The 29-year-old averaged .224 with three home runs and 12 RBI in 48 games with Major League Baseball’s San Francisco Giants. In his eight-year minor league career, he averaged .285 with 113 home runs, 615 RBI and a .797 on-base plus slugging (OPS) percentage.

Pill is expected play first base and will be the designated hitter with veteran Choi Hee-seop, who has struggled at the plate.

“He has above average contact ability with power,” the Tigers said in the press release. “He also has a good eye in the batting box.”
