‘The Suspect’ to be shown worldwide

The movie “The Suspect,” starring actor Gong Yoo, has sold its distribution rights to North American, Japan and five other regions.

It will open in 15 cities in North America on Jan. 10. Also, theaters in Hong Kong will start showing the film starting Valentine’s Day next month.

Although the exact release date has not been reported, distributors in Taiwan, India, the Middle East and Europe have also planned to release the film earlier.

In the movie, Gong acts as a special agent from North Korea who has to flea to South Korea after the North’s regime abandons him. He tries to take revenge on behalf of his family, which was killed in the North, while living in the South.

The film was released on Christmas Eve in Korea and has been having a good run, garnering 1.82 million admissions on the first week of its release.
