Posco story coming to TV

The life of the former chairman of Posco, Korea’s largest steelmaker, is getting the TV drama treatment in a new series on TV Chosun starring actor Choi Soo-jong.

The broadcaster yesterday confirmed Choi’s presence on the drama, tentatively titled “Into Fire Flames.”

The drama will be based on the life of Park Tae-joon (named Park Tae-hyung here), who overcome poverty after the 1950-53 Korean War and led the company that was pivotal to Korea’s economic development.

Posco was founded in 1968 as Pohang Iron and Steel in North Gyeongsang. The company was a joint venture between TaeguTec, where Park worked, and the Korean government.

The broadcaster will start filming at the end of next month so that the drama can go on air in April.
