‘Reply’ ends run on high note

TvN’s drama series “Reply 1994,” which targeted nostalgia by setting the story in the early 1990s, ended Dec. 28 after 21 episodes, despite great popularity. Its final episode reached a 11.9 percent average viewership rating, breaking the previous record. But despite its wrap, its fever hasn’t lost steam.

The two leading male actors, Kim Sung-kyun and Son Ho-joon, appeared in Myeong-dong, central Seoul, at noon on Saturday, fulfilling their pledge to stroll around the popular shopping district if the drama’s average viewership rating surpassed 10 percent. However, due to such a high turnout, Kim and Son had to evacuate to a building nearby and end their “strolling” earlier than planned.

Similarly, actress Go Ara, who also played a leading role, will appear at the Lotte Department Store in Myeong-dong at 2 p.m. tomorrow. To fulfill her pledge, she will hold a first-come, first-served autograph session for 100 fans. Go promised that she would hold a “free hug event” when the drama surpassed 10 percent in viewership ratings. However, after recently spraining her ankle, she changed it to an autograph session.
