MBC adds different music program

While most television channels in Korea have a mixture of different music programs, MBC has been criticized for only featuring K-pop idols these days. But now, MBC says it plans on launching a new show that will focus on a greater diversity of styles than previous programs.

Tentatively titled “Music Show,” the program will reportedly invite a mix of idol singers and industry veterans to sing remakes of hit songs from the 1970s to 1990s. The original singers who made those songs hits may join the younger singers in their remakes.

The host of the show will be actress Kim Hyun-ju, famous for her role in the KBS drama “Boys Over Flowers.”

While an exact starting date and air time have not been finalized, MBC is said to be considering broadcasting it at night on Saturdays, starting later this month.
