Hyundai Mobis, the nation’s largest auto parts maker under Hyundai Motor Group, said yesterday that its electromagnetic darkroom has won accreditation from the Korea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme, which would guarantee the quality of its testing ability and technology.
The company said that the test result coming from its electromagnetic darkroom could also be accepted by 69 other countries under an international accord because it won accreditation from a national organization and will boost exports of its product.
The electromagnetic darkroom tests various characteristics of magnetic waves. Because automakers use various sensor and communication features, vehicle telematics became important and Hyundai Mobis has been running 20 electromagnetic darkrooms in its research and development center in Yongin, Gyeonggi.
The company recently promised to invest 1.8 trillion won ($1.6 billion) for research and development and expand its workforce from 1,800 to 2,300 by 2015.
