Exo tipped as ‘artist to watch’ in 2014

Billboard magazine from the United States named Korean boy band EXO as one of the “14 Artists to Watch in 2014.”

Exo was the only Asian musician included on the annual list that shines a spotlight on rising stars across the world.

“Exo looks positioned to be K-pop's next crossover phenom with an American fan base brewing for the 12-member boy band,” the magazine wrote, adding that the music video of the group’s song “Grow” was the third-most viewed K-pop video in the United States last year after the internationally recognized Psy and Girls' Generation.

Local industry experts have also forecasted a rosy future for the group as it has hit a landmark that has not been seen for more than a decade in Korea: selling more than a million album copies.

The group achieved this landmark by releasing two versions of its first album “XOXO (Kiss&Hug).” No other K-pop stars have reached such record since it was last seen in 2001 with singer Kim Gun-mo’s seventh album and g.o.d.’s fourth.
