Data leaks claim top executives

신용카드사들의 개인정보 대량 유출사태로 여론이 악화되자 카드사 대표 2명이 불명예 사직했다. 1억4백만 개 계좌의 개인정보가 유출된 이번 사건은 한국 역사상 최악의 개인정보 유출 사례다.
The announcement of the resignations came yesterday afternoon, hours after the three card companies - KB Kookmin Card, Lotte Card and NH Card - held a joint news conference earlier in the morning saying they would step up compensation efforts, including full coverage of any financial damage that may occur from the leaks. NH Card CEO Sohn Kyung-ik was the first to announce his resignation to take responsibility for snowballing public anxiety.

어제 오후 KB 국민카드, 롯데카드, NH카드의 대표 3명이 공동 기자회견을 갖고 개인정보 유출로 발생하는 모든 금융피해를 완전히 보상해주는 것을 포함한 보상체계를 수립하겠다고 밝힌 뒤 몇 시간 후에 대표 사임 발표가 나왔다. 제일 처음 NH카드 손경익 대표가 눈덩이처럼 불어나는 국민의 불안에 대해 책임을 지기 위해 사임하겠다고 발표했다.
Minutes after, KB Financial Group top executives made an even broader announcement. Along with KB Kookmin Card CEO Shim Jae-oh, KB Kookmin Bank CEO Lee Kun-ho and other high-ranking officials also resigned.

몇 분 후에 KB금융그룹 최고경영진은 더 폭넓은 발표를 했다. 심재오 KB 국민카드사 대표와 함께 이건호 KB 국민은행 대표와 다른 고위 임원들도 사직했다.
Despite the resignations, apologies and guarantees of compensation, customers continued to express fear over financial vulnerability. The Internet was busy with angry customers, and some even claimed they were being hassled by fraudsters as a result of the data leaks.

Political circles chimed in, demanding financial regulators take aggressive action such as imposing penalties on the credit card companies.
