New TVXQ album hits top of the charts in 1 day

Boy group TVXQ’s new album ranked No. 2 on the Oricon daily chart in less than one day of its release, according to local media yesterday.

The Oricon chart is one of the most prestigious music-ranking outlets in Japan.

Titled “Hide & Seek/Something,” the album sold 74,040 copies on the day of its release on Wednesday.

The album also included the Japanese version of “Something,” which was the group’s lead-off track in its seventh album.

“Hide & Seek/Something” is the group’s 40th single to be released in Japan. The group is also planning to unveil another album titled “Tree of Life” on March 5.

Hey! Say! JUMP, a nine-member Japanese group, was ranked No. 1 on the chart.
