Jae-kyung was almost in Kara

Kim Jae-kyung, leader of the girl group Rainbow, was originally supposed to be a member of Kara, the singer confessed while filming an interview for the KBS talk show “Full House.”

Both groups are produced by DSP Entertainment, one of the most established K-pop agencies in Korea.

“When I first joined my agency, DSP Entertainment, I trained as a member of Kara,” said the 25-year-old singer. “But the company told me that my image didn’t match the group’s ‘cute’ concept. So I was put into another group, which is Rainbow.”

Jae-kyung said that she had the chance to join Kara in 2008, when that group was looking for new members, but she declined, debuting instead a year later with Rainbow.

“I have no regrets about my decision,” she said. “Rainbow is like my family.”
