Former CJ Group executive to lead KT convergence unit

KT appointed Yun Kyoung-lim, former managing director of CJ Group, as the head of its Future Convergence Strategy Department.

The department was established as a division under the direct control of the CEO last month after KT Chairman Hwang Chang-gyu was elected.

It serves as a strategy think tank for KT Group, maximizes synergies among the group’s subsidiaries and finds new business opportunities.

KT said Yun is well suited to establish KT as the No. 1 mobile carrier by creating new growth engines based on ICT in a rapidly changing communications market.

Yun was born in 1963 and received a Ph.D. in business administration at Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology after graduating from Seoul National University. He served as the head of the New Business Promotion team at KT in 2006, head of the Media Division in 2008 and head of the Service Development Team in 2009, then moved to CJ Group’s strategic planning and business management division.
