2PM

Boy band 2PM, which has not been so active in Korea since the poor response to its last album, released in May 2013, could be about to make another attempt at reigniting its old fire earlier than most people thought.

Although the group’s agency, JYP Entertainment, has denied the rumors, word continues to swirl that 2PM is recording and working on tracks for a new album to drop in the early part of this year.

The six-member group released its third regular album last year in May, featuring the double lead-off tracks “A.D.T.O.Y.” and “Come Back If You Hear This Song.” But neither did well on the Korean charts, and 2PM members moved on to individual projects soon afterward.

Jun.K starred in the musical “The Three Musketeers” and Hwang Chan-sung appeared on the KBS variety show “Our Neighborhood Arts and Physical Education.”

However, the group continues to do very well in Japan. “Genesis of 2PM,” which was released there on Jan. 29, debuted at No. 1 on the Oricon weekly album chart.
