Lotte opens hotel to service Daejeon convention center

Lotte Hotel, the Lotte Group’s hotel chain, said yesterday that it will open its ninth hotel in Korea in Daejeon’s Yuseong District on March 20.

The groundbreaking ceremony for Lotte City Hotel Daejeon took place in April 2012. An 18-story building was erected across from the Daejeon Convention Center.

The hotel offers 312 guest rooms including eight suites, 37 deluxe rooms and 267 standard rooms. Room rates range from 240,000 won to 400,000 won ($225 to $375) per night.

The new facility has an upscale buffet restaurant on the top floor and a banquet room on the first floor that can accommodate up to 400 people.

“The city had many difficulties hosting domestic and international events due to the lack of upscale hotels near the Daejeon Convention Center,” said the hotel’s chief executive, Song Yong-deok. “Lotte City Daejeon will not only meet the needs of tourists but also contribute to the development of Daejeon as the center of the MICE [meetings, incentives, conferences, exhibitions] industry.”
