Watching weight? How about some cream cheese gimbap

Convenience store 7-Eleven said yesterday that it has introduced two new menus - cream cheese gimbap (seaweed roll) and a roll cake - dedicated to female consumers ahead of spring.

According to the retailer, compared to the normal gimbap it sells, the cream cheese gimbap contains soft cream cheese and less rice but more vegetables for women who care about their diet.

A 200-gram pack is sold for 2,000 won ($1.87).

In addition, 7-Eleven said that with growing demand among consumers for sweet desserts, it has introduced a soft roll cake. A 50-gram package costs 1,000 won.

“Expectations among consumers have become high on ready-made food items sold at convenience stores, with growing popularity of snacks and desserts,” said Joo Tae-jung, an official from 7-Eleven. “We plan to focus more on developing premium-level snacks.”
