Hankook Tire signs MOU with Dassault for tech cooperation

Hankook Tire, the nation’s largest tire manufacturer, said yesterday that it signed a memorandum of understanding with France’s Dassault Systemes on R&D and technology cooperation.

Dassault Systemes specializes in the production of 3-D design software and product lifecycle management solutions. Hankook Tire said that the deal would allow the company to test the performance of its product in advance by applying Dassault’s simulation program. In particular, the company hopes to minimize development time and improve test accuracy.

Hankook Tire has been trying to improve its R&D, with plans to build a new central R&D plant in Daejeon and a test engineering center in Sangju, North Gyeongsang.

It also inked a deal with the German chemical company Lanxess to study rubber materials.
