President Park Geun-hye, right, meets 10 religious leaders yesterday at the Blue House. “The ferry accident claimed too many lives. As the president of the government, which must protect the lives of the people, I feel severely heartbroken,” said Park in the meeting. “I think it is what I should do to make an apology with coming up with alternatives to the public after doing my best to recover all the missing passengers and to refurbish the national system.” The meeting with faith leaders was organized for Park to ask religious groups to help people overcome the Sewol ferry disaster. In the aftermath of the disaster, approval ratings for Park slid 13 percentage points over a month from 61.8 percent to 48.8 percent. [NEWSIS]
