Mayer gives comfort at concert
International singer-songwriter John Mayer held his first Korean concert yesterday. As the whole nation is still grieving over the Sewol ferry accident, Mayer’s music provided comfort and condolence to Korean fans. The 36-year-old Mayer appeared yesterday at Jamsil Indoor Stadium, southeastern Seoul, with a yellow ribbon pinned to his chest, a dedication to the Sewol victims.
As it was his first concert in Korea, he played most of his hit tracks, including “Your Body is a Wonderland,” “Gravity” and “No Such Thing.”
Mayer announced he would donate all the money from his concert’s merchandise sales to the relief efforts.
“Thank you Seoul for a very special night. I wish you lots of peace and healing,” wrote Mayer on his Instagram after the two-hour concert. “Thanks for allowing myself/band/crew to play for you amidst such a heavy and painful time in your country,” he added.
