Visitors look around the first floor of the Travel Library built by Hyundai Card in Cheongdam-dong, southern Seoul, yesterday. The new library has a collection of about 14,700 books on traveling, selected by four internationally renowned book curators. The books are centered around 13 themes such as arts and architecture, adventure and travel photography. They can also be searched by region covering 196 countries across the world. It is the company’s second library project after opening its first on design in Gahoe-dong, northern Seoul, last year. Dictionaries for 111 languages are available, too. Visitors can read books while having beverages and snacks at the cafe on the library’s first floor. They can also receive consultation for trips with concierges on the second floor. Travel-related items can also be purchased. The credit card company is currently expanding its library project with the goal of understanding consumers’ lifestyles. Traveling has emerged as a key element of consumers’ lifestyles and so it is the second target of Hyundai Card’s libraries project. Hyundai Card holders are able to use the library eight times a month Tuesday through Saturday between noon and 9 p.m. and can bring one guest. The library will be closed Mondays.
