Daewoo E&C gets big road

Daewoo Engineering and Construction, the nation’s third-largest builder by capacity, said yesterday it won a $919 million order to build a highway in Qatar.
Daewoo E&C will be in charge of the fourth zone of the New Orbital Highway and Truck Route project connecting the Al Khor Link Road with Dukhan Highway, which will be 42 kilometers (26 miles) long. The 14-lane road will have five interchanges and 21 bridges. It is expected to take 35 months to construct.
The company said that its highway contract was the third-largest road construction order secured by a Korean builder overseas.
Daewoo E&C has secured $2.68 billion in orders this year.
