Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering said yesterday that its Romanian shipyard Daewoo Mangalia Heavy Industries (DMHI) has delivered a pure car and truck carrier (PCTC) to Norway’s Ocean Yield.
The company said that it is the largest PCTC ever built on a shipyard in the Mediterranean Sea or Black Sea. The vessel, which will be operated by Norway’s Hoegh Autoliners, is 200 meters long, 33 meters wide and can ship 6,500 vehicles at once. DMHI won the order in September 2012.
DMHI has so far secured $200 million to build four vessels.
