Head of YG donates 1 billion won to charity
Yang Hyun-suk, the head of YG Entertainment, donated 1 billion won (about $970,000) of his private money to the newly established Muju YG Foundation, according to the agency yesterday.The company, in celebration of its 18th anniversary, established the foundation to serve the needs of underprivileged children by providing medical care and covering their school expenses.
“Muju” means “having no owner” in Chinese.
In addition to YG’s charity program “YG With Campaign,” in which K-pop singers like Big Band and 2NE1 voluntarily take part, the new foundation plans to actively participate in charity events.
