Shinsegae mannequins don Gear Fit, Galaxy S5Customers visiting Shinsegae Department Store in Hoehyeon-dong, central Seoul, will notice a small change in the attire of the mannequins displayed inside its contemporary fashion brand zone called 4N5. They will all be wearing the Gear Fit, the new smart band from Samsung Electronics, and holding a Galaxy S5.
According to the retailer yesterday, it has arranged the special displays inside the 4N5 zone on the fourth and fifth floors, where contemporary fashion brands are clustered. About 30 mannequins are displayed wearing the two Samsung devices.
The display, which will remain at Shinsegae until June 2, includes a mannequin dressed up as a woman going for a jog, checking her fitness records on her Galaxy S5 that has been wirelessly connected to her Gear Fit; a female consumer checking a text message on her Gear Fit while her hands are weighed down with shopping bags; and a man sitting at a cafe looking at his Galaxy S5 while also wearing a Gear Fit.
“We expect the collaboration [with Samsung] will create a buzz especially among young trendsetters who follow fashion and IT,” said Lee Jin-soo, head of the main Shinsegae branch. “We plan to continue being an industry leader by promoting unique marketing events, transcending [industry] genres.”
Along with the display, Shinsegae Department Store is holding a giveaway event in which a customer who has made purchases of 300,000 won ($292) or more in a day can be randomly selected to win a Galaxy S5, Gear Fit, tickets to the Caribbean Bay Hotel in Yongin, Gyeonggi, or Shinsegae gift certificates.
