GM Korea to surpass 10 million car ‘kit’ exports
GM Korea, the nation’s third largest automaker, said yesterday it will surpass exports of 10 million complete knockdown (CKD) vehicles by the end of this month.In 2002, the year it was opened, GM Korea exported about 120,000 CKD units, which are assembled at other General Motors facilities around the globe for local sale. GM Korea surpassed exports of 1 million units in 2005 and 5 million units in 2010.
Among the 17 major markets that receive CKD products from GM Korea are Uzbekistan (Cielos and Lacettis), Mexico (Gentras), Russia (Cruzes and Aveos), Brazil (Cruzes), China (Lacettis and Captivas) and India (Sparks).
