Transport Ministry recalls Ford, Jaguar Land Rover models

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said yesterday that it is recalling 2,216 units of the Ford Escape sport utility vehicle due to problems with its airbags, door handles and cooling system.

A total of 859 Escapes produced between May 22, 2012, and Jan. 31 are under scrutiny for a possible side-airbag deploying problem because of a software malfunction, while 933 Escapes produced between Feb. 22, 2012, and April 6 will be recalled for defective door handles. Ford Escapes made between July 28, 2012, and March 1 last year are being recalled due to fire hazards because of oil leaks in their cooling systems, the ministry said.

The ministry also ordered a recall of the 129 Range Rover luxury SUVs produced between Aug. 16, 2012, and March 18, last year for airbag problems. Free repairs are available from today at any Ford Sales and Service Korea or Jaguar Land Rover Korea service centers.
