Philippine company taps Hyundai Engineering

MANILA - Aboitiz Power, one of the Philippines’ biggest power producers, said yesterday it has tapped Korea’s Hyundai Engineering to design a $937 million power plant it is building in Cebu province.

Aboitiz Power said its wholly owned Therma Visayas unit had signed a contract for engineering procurement and construction with Hyundai Engineering and unlisted local firm Galing Power Energy.

The contract is for a 300 megawatt baseload power plant costing 41 billion pesos ($937 million) targeted to go online by the third quarter of 2017 in the central province of Cebu.
