Skin-care goods sale for soldiers

The online shopping mall 11st will hold a sale of up to 51 percent on male cosmetics for the summer, including skin-care products, sunblock, pore-minimizing packs and cleansing products from June 6 to June 8 to celebrate Memorial Day by helping the nation’s soldiers protect their skin.

For young soldiers who care about their skin, 11st has discounted summer products such as two sets of Biotherm Homme Skincare (66,900 won, or $65), IOPE Man Air Cushion, a foundation powder for men (20,120 won), and two packages of Caolion’s pore-minimizing cream (15,900 won).

A shampoo encouraging fast hair growth, which is mostly in demand by men who are soon to be discharged, is on sale for 14,900 won, and a large bottle of Aekyung Perfume Body Wash (1,800 milliliters, or 60 ounces) is discounted to 9,900 won.

Sales of male cosmetic products at 11st rose 32 percent in May, compared to the same month last year as the number of male shoppers interested in grooming has increased.

Sales of moisturizing cream increased 36 percent, sunscreen rose 27 percent and pore-minimizing packs were up 25 percent year-on-year during the same period. Camouflage cream sales increased 18 percent in May from a year earlier.

11st will also give 50 percent discount coupons to 110 customers on a first-come, first-served basis on each day of the event.

“In the case of male soldiers in their early 20s who undergo a lot of changes in their skin, they prefer cosmetic products that will smooth their rough skin,” said Lee Jong-chan, head of the male beauty team at 11st.

“It will also be a good opportunity for families and girlfriends of soldiers to prepare presents at affordable prices.”
