Ssangyong E&C wins order for $81 million hotel in Malaysia

Ssangyong Engineering & Construction, a major builder in Korea, said yesterday that it won an $81 million order in Malaysia to build a hotel and convention center.

The company will build the St. Regis Langkawi Hotel & Convention Center by Starwood Hotel & Resort Group, which owns hotel brands such as Westin, Sheraton and W.

Ssangyong E&C said that the project is part of the Malaysian government’s plan to develop the Langkawi area as a tourist hub.

The hotel will take about 19 months to build, and its luxury villas and other facilities will be completed within 32 months.

Ssangyong E&C, which is famous for building Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands Hotel, is currently managing 18 projects worth 3 trillion won in eight countries.
