Transport Ministry recalls thousands of Passat sedans

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said yesterday that a total of 2,897 Volkswagen Passat midsize sedans will be recalled due to faulty headlights.

The ministry said that 2,189 Passat 2.0 TDIs that were manufactured between Sept. 2 and Dec. 4, 2012, will be recalled, while 708 Passat 2.5 MPIs that were produced between Jun. 21 and Dec. 4 must also be repaired.

The ministry said that a connection problem prevented the headlights from working, and they can also malfunction due to vibrations from the hood and body frame created while driving. Owners of these models can have their cars repaired for free at Audi Volkswagen Korea shops starting today.
