Samsung Electronics unveils WQHD monitor

Samsung Electronics says it will launch a monitor with a Wide Quad High Definition panel has 1.8 times better resolution than full HD.

The 3.7 megapixel WQHD display can render 1 billion colors and has a 178-degree viewing angle, the company said yesterday.

The new Samsung monitor, which will be marketed as the SD850, is equipped both picture-in-picture and picture-by-picture features. PIP mode shows a smaller screen inside the lartger screen, while the PBP mode involves side by side screens using separate video sources.

The Eco Light Sensor automatically optimizes the monitor’s brightness is accordance with the ambient light of the surrounding space.

The monitor has height, tilt and swivel and pivot adjustability.

It comes in two sizes; 27-inch and 32-inch. They are priced at 699,000 won ($684.6) and 749,000 won.

“We wish the release of the SD850 monitor will help us lead the market for the monitors with high resolution panels,” said Kim Seok-gi, a senior vice president of Visual Display business at Samsung Electronics. “We will continuously introduce various and innovative products to appeal in the market for the monitors for experts.”
