Janssen, Pfizer to supply anti-depressants in Korea

Janssen Korea, a pharmaceutical subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson, said yesterday that it established a strategic partnership with Pfizer Korea Monday to promote Pfizer’s depression treatment Efexor XR.

Efexor XR is the first anti-depressant of the serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI) class launched in Korea. Pfizer Korea is responsible for manufacturing, importing and distributing the drug while Janssen Korea is responsible for promotion. “This strategic partnership will allow the two companies to make contributions to improving the quality of life for patients with depressive disorders,” said Kim Oak-yeon, Janssen Korea’s chief executive.
