UAE gives $1.9B order to HHI to build offshore platforms
Hyundai Heavy Industries, the nation’s largest shipbuilder, said yesterday that it has won a 2 trillion ($1.9 billion) order to build four offshore platforms and install undersea cables in the United Arab Emirates.HHI said it received a letter of award (LOA) from UAE’s Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Company to provide an oil production platform that will be installed in the NARS oil field, which is 131 kilometers (81.4 miles) northwest of Abu Dhabi. The project aims to expand oil production from 22,000 barrels per day to 65,000.
The construction should be finished by the second half of 2019, HHI said.
