Philips Korea renamed in line with new business goals

Philips Electronics Korea has changed its name to Philips Korea.

The Korean unit of the Dutch electronics gadget maker said yesterday it made the change this month. It is the company’s first name change since the Korean unit opened 38 years ago.

The company said the name change is in line with the company’s effort to become a comprehensive health and well-being tech company focusing on three major businesses: health care, consumer lifestyle and lighting.

The mother company also changed its name from Royal Philips Electronics to Royal Philips in May.
