Doosan machinery maker opens Bobcat research facility

Doosan Infracore, a major machinery maker in Korea, said yesterday that its American affiliate Bobcat has completed a new R&D center called the Acceleration Center in Bismarck, North Dakota.

The two-story building features the latest equipment and software to test Bobcats. It has an outdoor testing facility of 89,000 square meters (21 acres). Doosan Infracore said that it invested $28 million to build the facility.

Doosan Group acquired construction machinery maker Bobcat for $5.1 billion in 2007.

The establishment of a new R&D center is Doosan Infracore’s latest effort to improve its R&D capabilities. Last week, the company opened a “Global R&D Center” in Incheon to integrate its researchers so they can work together on developing engine and construction equipment.
