Robot car race final for college students to be held in Seoul

Freescale Semiconductor, a major automotive semiconductor producer, said yesterday that it will hold the Worldwide Freescale Cup Championship in Korea, which is the final round of the Intelligent Car Racing challenge.

The championship will be held on Friday and Saturday next week at the Hanyang University Gymnasium in Seoul.

The Freescale Cup Challenge is part of the company’s university program, which has been running for the past 12 years for undergraduate and graduate students from around the world.

This year, preliminary races took place in eight countries - Korea, the U.S., China, Japan, Mexico, Brazil, Taiwan, and Malaysia - and Europe held a multi-country event.

About 100 participants on 17 teams from 15 universities won a preliminary race and will meet up in Korea, then race to have their model car chosen as the most intelligent vehicle.
