CJ Korea Express announces wheelchair program milestone

CJ Korea Express announced yesterday that its volunteer program has repaired, cleaned and sterilized 1,000 electric wheelchairs.

Company employees joined in the effort yesterday at Seoul Jeongmin Special School for disabled children in Nowon District, northern Seoul.

The company started the program in June 2012, along with the Institute of the Disabled for Independent Living.

It provides a vehicle that includes a small power generator, a compressor and a welding machine, which are necessary to repair and sterilize wheelchairs.

“Wheelchairs are important [because they] guarantee freedom of movement to disabled people, but getting them fixed hasn’t been easy,” said a company employee. “That’s why we began the program.”
