LTE Asia Award given to SK Telecom for broadband service

SK Telecom, the nation’s No. 1 mobile carrier, won an LTE Asia Award 2014 at the LTE Asia Conference in Singapore on Wednesday, local time.

The annual conference, which is the largest in Asia for discussing the development of the mobile communications industry, ran from Sept. 23 through yesterday.

SK Telecom was the only Korean company to win an award at this year’s event, SKT said.

LTE Asia gave SK Telecom a high ranking for commercializing the world’s first broadband LTE-A and leading 5G development.

LG Electronics video promotes kimchi, fridges in Times Square

LG Electronics promoted Korea’s representative food kimchi along with its kimchi refrigerators in a video showed in New York City’s Times Square on Wednesday, local time.

The company also showed a video of how kimchi is stored in special kimchi refrigerators.

The 65-second clip had subtitles in Korean and English for the audience in Times Square.

It emphasized that kimchi is healthy and contains lactic acid bacteria. The company also promoted LG’s own kimchi refrigerator technology, saying it makes kimchi taste better.

LG’s Dios Kimchi Toktok uses technology to increase the amount of lactic acid bacteria in kimchi by nine times.
