Lotte Liquor will build its second soju production facility by 2015 in Cheongju, North Chungcheong, allocating 90 billion won ($85.8 million) for land previously owned by Chungbuk Soju, a Lotte subsidiary. The factory will have an annual capacity of 300 million bottles of the liquor maker’s signature soju, Chum-Churum.
The expansion plan is intended to meet increasing demand for the alcoholic beverage, said Lotte Liquor. Sales of Chum-Churum increased an average of 7 percent annually over the past five years. The company aims to begin producing soju by the end of 2015.
