Woollim to launch girl group

The country’s K-pop girl groups have had it hard in recent years compared to their male counterparts, having to deal with rumors, scandals and accidents.

But Woollim Entertainment, home to the boy band Infinite, wants to bring much-needed vigor to the music scene with its new eight-member girl group that will debut early next month.

Although the group’s name has not yet been decided, Woollim said the girl group has almost finished its first studio album.

In order to differentiate the girl group from the pack of others on the scene, the entertainment company chose Yoon Sang, a famed musician and producer, to work on all the tracks for the band’s first album.
