Hankook Tire breaks ground on eighth foreign plant in U.S.

Hankook Tire, the world’s seventh-largest tire maker by sales volume, said yesterday it has broken ground on an $800 million plant in Clarksville, Tennessee. It is Hankook’s eighth overseas production facility, and construction is expected to be completed by 2016.

The company said the plant will have a capacity of 11 million tires annually and bring total foreign production to 100 million tires a year.
