KT joins eight other carriers to pursue Internet of Things





KT, the No. 2 national mobile carrier, has embarked on cooperating with mobile carriers in Asia on the Internet of Things.

KT said yesterday it has signed a memorandum of understanding with nine member companies of Conexus, the Asian alliance of mobile carriers, to jointly develop technologies and provide services at the Conexus general meeting in Vietnam.

KT, NTT DoCoMo of Japan, Smart of the Philippines, StarHub of Singapore, Hutchison of Hong Kong and four other companies participated in the MOU.

KT also launched the IoT Project Group composed of experts of each company to develop IoT technology, products, services and business models.

Through this, KT said it aims to provide IoT services throughout Asia by utilizing local networks and technologies.

Meanwhile, the general meeting was held Monday through Wednesday with the companies seeking ways to strengthen cooperation in roaming, media and content.
