SK Telecom, Cisco jointly start web conferencing service

SK Telecom, the No. 1 mobile carrier in Korea, said yesterday it had launched a web conference service called Smart Gathering in cooperation with Cisco, a global leader in communications and networking.

The company said Smart Gathering is a remote conferencing system that provides high-quality voice calls for people that frequently travel and hold meetings overseas. Users can also share files, record discussions and connect to Smart Gathering through their smartphone.

The mobile carrier said the service is different from other online conference networks because it is based on a company’s voice call network.

Subscribers to Smart Gathering can schedule or hold a meeting on their smartphones or PCs by connecting to the Smart Gathering website.
